Chief Technology Officer, Public Sector & Central Government
John has worked in the telecommunications industry for over 25 years, as programmer, systems analyst, systems engineer and manager. He joined Cisco in 1999 and has held a range of roles covering UK, Europe and Global sales teams & operations.
Currently CTO for Public Sector, Central Government, John leads a team of engineers and architects who enable solutions for Cisco customers, including in the Transport and Defence sectors. John is also active in startup initiatives within Cisco, including work on Autonomous Vehicles and Blockchain, and in developing new talent into technical roles from apprentice and graduate programmes.
John’s interest areas include sustainability and green initiatives, including corporate beekeeping, giving back activities and serving as STEM ambassador. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, tinkering with Vintage British motorcycles, and movies.

From supporting citizen-focused smart communities to creating flexible learning environments and enabling remote GP consultations, John will outline the role of digital technology in improving public services for everyone.
